In the first couple of days of NMAT a few students have had a disaster hence let us start with a couple of things that you need to ensure:
- Carry two different ID proofs (as mentioned by you while applying for NMAT) along with their photo copies to your test centre. You are supposed to carry your Appointment Confirmation Letter along with your Admit Card. Do not take this lightly as even if the authorities allow you to appear in the exam (without any of these), you would lose your peace in the process just before the exam.
- Reach the test center in time. The time mentioned in the Admit Card is NOT the reporting time it is the time at which the test is supposed to start. Do reach the test centre at least 30 minutes prior to this given time. Please call the centre people at the given telephone number (in your admit card), if you encounter any difficulty in locating the centre.
Now over to the exam…
Overview: In MBA entrance tests we are all used to leaving a few questions unattempted because of negative marking but there is NO negative marking in NMAT hence you should mark an answer to all the 120 questions. NMAT has sectional time limits and when you are left with exactly 5 minutes in any of the sections, a pop-up appears to tell you that you are left with exactly 5 minutes in the section. You cannot proceed further without shutting this pop-up. A this stage please mark an answer to all the unattempted questions barring the couple of questions for which you would still have some time to solve. Ashutosh, If your problem is low attempts in QA due to lengthy DI then you can possibly try this method.
Most of the students have reported easy single questions and time consuming DI sets hence you can could attempt the QA singles first and then move to the DI sets. Since the NMAT platform forces your to move from question to question, if you come across a DI set, just mark an answer to these questions and move on. Do not down the question numbers of DI sets. Once you complete the QA questions, you can go back and solve the DI sets.

Neel, you need to considerably increase your VA score to get to a 215+. For each and every mock that you take, pay special attention in analyzing the the verbal section. The analysis includes identifying your weaknesses, learning new words, reattempting the RC in a given time limit.

I will be giving NMAT this year so was going through the exam analysis. In the analysis section of CL site i have seen last year Quant was moderate to difficult in this Exam.
I have purchased Test Gym Adaptive Course which also includes Test Gym Classic in that I have given NMAT sectional Tests in Quantative Skills and I have found the section to be very easy.I have scored 114 out of 144 in the last sectional test I have given.
My question is whether CL’s NMAT sectionals are of the same difficult of last year NMAT or is it easier than that and if that is the case then where can i practice its sectional tests.

NMAT exam fee was 1500rs or 2000rs accrding to choice of college/s..plus with each extra attempt u need 2 pay 1000rs..
so many students applied for it..but the university and pearson team hs led many of them down through there obnoxious rules..
we students gave the most important mba entrance exam..CAT and process was so easy..a single id proof..with admit card!
now i wanna come to the main problem which i very well know not jst me but atleast hundreds or myt thousnds would hv witnessed…sir our goverment sayz aadhar card is the most imp. n valid id proof…bt the uncertainity in rules mentioned by the the university made many students unable to give the exam..or if anyone had the chance for anothr attempt and money is nt a pblm hs gone for anothr attmpt bt paying 1000rs..
accrdng to them they mean a student must have:
1.pan card(do we earn n paying tax..so to have a pan card)
2.driving license(what if sum1 who dnt knw hw 2 drive or jst nt stable to hv a vehicle)
3.passport(how many amongst the studnts who r jst freshrs..posses one)
so university means..either u need to be a tax payer..or knw hw to drive or be able enough to travel around having a passport n if u dnt hv any one of dese qualifications..sorry u r nt eligible for r university. SIR..i knw what it feels to travel frm ur city to the test city centre..make ur staying..a exam for which you had been preparing so long..so hard..and in a moment u r said u cn’t give the exam…a long year hard work..time..money is all wasted…n the reason is so vague condition put by them…..i object this sir…n i knw lot of other student have beared the same pain..eithr lost there chance cmpltly or if lucky enough gone for anothr attmpt paying extra…

Sir, I appeared for NMAT in the second window and my score is 214. But my score in quant is just 74. So, will I clear the sectional cutoff in quant and the overall cutoff for the Mumbai campus?
And in the case that I do, will I have to perform exceptionally well in the GD and PI or they don’t consider these scores during the successive stages once the cutoff is cleared?
Ankit, for NM Mumbai your overall score is not a problem but 74 in QS is on the edge and it could go either way. Let us hope for the best.

BD, go for a retake, NMIMS cutoff in the last few years has been around 208 and that of Bangalore/Hyderabad have been over 200.

Nikhil, you will get a call from NM Mumbai and can also convert the call because conversion is primarily a function of your performance in the interview and group discussion and students in the past have converted at scores less than 215 also.

Bhavna, in the last 3 years the NM Mumbai cutoffs have been less than or equal to 55 for LS, 65 for LR, 76 for QA and 210 for overall so you should not have a problem and do not need to go for a retake.

HArsha, you should get interview call from IIFT. The biggest component in the final selection is for the interview process and hence you can convert at low written scores also but with a good interview.

Sriharsha, a retake is not required, you should get a call from NM Mumbai. Student have made it to the final list with a score of 209-210 but as you said it is the GD and Interview that are the most important.

Tanushree, you have very good scores in QS and LS but 63 in LR is a borderline case. You could make it to the short list of NM Mumbai but to be safe I suggest that you go for a retake and ensure over 65 in LR.

I have my NMAT on 7th Dec.In NMAT as we have to attempt questions sequentially(cant skip a question) , does it mean that after we have gone through all the questions of a particular section , again we have to go through sequentially or will we be allowed to the question number of our choice?

Binay, the QA of your Mock CATs is good enough for NMAT.
Binay, yes you have to attempt the questions sequentially but you can move to the next question without marking an answer to the previous one. You can use the review pane to move directly to a question.

Gaurav, go for a retake s 59 is LR is likely to be below the cutoff. Target a score of 65+ in this section. In QS too a couple of extra marks will be helpful.

Rishav, you are unlikely to get a call from any NMIMS campus. You should go for a retake with a minimum target score of 55 in LS, 65 in LR, 75 in QS and a total of 210.

Shushank, NM does not have reservations hence you will not get any advantage. Your overall score of 204 and LS score of 51 are both below the expected cutoff for NM Mumbai and hence you should consider a retake with a target overall score of over 210 and LS score of over 55.

Pradip, the only two good institutes that accept CMAT scores are GIM and KJ Somaiyya and you can apply to them. Calls from both are on.

Aman, the top institutes through CMAT are GIM and KJ Somaiyya and both are possible. Thrugh DTE you should get all institutes except SIMSREE. JBIMS is no longer through DTE and will be taking only CAT and CET scores.

Preetam, the LS cutoff has been 55 for the last 3 years and I do not expect it to go up, m estimate is that you will be able to get a call from NM Mumbai.

Soumya, 87%ile in CAMT will get you a call from XISS HR and hence you can apply.
NMIMS Blr and Hyd will require a score of over 200 hence you should go for a retake.

Shreya, last year the sectional cutoff for LR was 61 and it has gone as high as 65 in the last three years hence your LR score of 62 is a borderline case. You should consider a retake. You score in the other two sections and overall is fine.

Seema, this year NMAT has upped the level of QA a bit but the others are by and large at the same level. In the last few years NMIMS overall cutoff has been around 207-208 and hence 210 is a safe score.

I have taken up the test series for CAT and Non-CAT. I have noticed a flaw in the NMAT mocks and NMAT FLTS. The logical reasoning is section is of 60 minutes instead of 38 minutes whereas the Quantitative Ability section is of 38 minutes instead of 60 minutes. This aberration has rendered the mocks futile. Hence I request you to please make the necessary changes as soon as possible as the test window has already started.

Chandan, NMAT will declare the scores by end of Oct for the students who have taken NMAT in the first two weeks and you should wait for the scores before deciding on the retake.
XISS Ranchi is possible at 80%ile but target 85%ile to be sure of a call.

Chandan, XISS Ranchi is best know for HR and its placements for finance are not great, it can at best be a back up option.

Krishi, unfortunately I am not aware of any source from where you can get CAT 2009-13 questions.
If LR is creating a problem for you then the right approach will be to reduce the attempt in this areas and to focus on other question types. Since you are not very comfortable with RC also hence look at attempting only 1-2 RC passages and LR sets (total of 3-4 sets of RC + LR) but ensure that you attempt almost all of Verbal Logic and Usage questions.
